Efficient & complete PFAS destruction.

PFAS-eliminating electrochemical systems.

About the project

GRAPHEC is dedicated to designing electrochemical water treatment systems that employ graphene sponge electrodes, with a specific goal of eliminating per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water.

Our technology degrades PFAS without generating toxic and persistent byproducts.

Who & what & how?

GRAPHEC is dedicated to designing electrochemical water treatment systems that employ graphene sponge electrodes, with a specific goal of eliminating per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water.

Our technology degrades PFAS without generating toxic and persistent byproducts.

During 5 years of high-end research under the prestigious European Research Council-funded Starting Grant ELECTRON4WATER, GRAPHEC has developed graphene-based anodes that employ electrochemical processes to break down PFAS. Recently, GRAPHEC was awarded the Proof-of- Concept grant to scale up and continue addressing the enormous social PFAS challenge. Hereby also.

Why choose us?

GRAPHEC’s electrochemical systems stand out thanks to their potential to degrade PFAS, modularity, robustness and small footprint. Moreover, they operate at ambient temperature and pressure and do not require addition of chemicals – only current is used and are thus perfectly compatible with renewable power sources of the future (e.g. wind, photovoltaic cells, hydro, etc)”.

Graphene sponge electrodes able to completely destroy PFAS.

No chloride oxidation, no toxic chlorate and perchlorate formation.

Low cost and modular.

Applications

Semiconductor, automotive, textile, paper and many more, our versatile and modular treatment systems are perfectly equipped to help any industry with their PFAS challenge.

Applications

Even ultra complex water matrices can be dealt with easily.

Applications

Persistent trace contaminants in both municipal as industrial wastewater are no problem for GRAPHEC’s efficient electrochemical systems.

Applications

Reduce PFAS to non-detectable levels, ensuring the safety of municipal drinking water for all.

Applications

Eliminate PFAS from remediation waste streams and make all environments safe again.

Understanding the critical health risks associated with PFAS exposure, including links to cancer, immune system damage, and developmental issues, underscores the urgency of our mission.
